This program dispels the myth of the Grey Mullet is un-catchable and proves that this super hard fighting fish is a worthy quarry. Mike Ladle, a zoologist at the institute of freshwater Ecology Laboratories, uses his considerable knowledge of fish behaviour to develop some original and effective methods of different types, ageing them and studying how and what they feed on. Three completely different situations are shown. The first, fishing from a harbour wall with ordinary float and paternoster set-ups using mackerel and bread baits. The second, spinning from a small boat using home made bar spoons baited with worm and finally, on the coast a fascinating look at the seaweed fly and its maggots which find their way onto the surface where upon they are taken by the Mullet. After baiting up with rotting seaweed and its maggots, fly tackle is used to great effect. Lots of attractive mullet are caught and included are some amazing shots of the fish plucking at, and finally taking a lure.
